Welcome to Rachel Russell, from Thrive Beyond Business Coaching. Rachel supports a wide range of businesses. Today she is sharing a bit more about her own independent business in my series of interviews with #incredibleindependents.

1) Why did you start your business?

I can tell you exactly where and when I had that moment of realisation that I had the balance between work and my home life completely wrong. For many years I had juggled young children and my own career as Head of Marketing and Relations. While my career continued to go from strength to strength, every other part of my life suffered. I knew it had to change. So, I took a brave decision and left my steady income and all the benefits that come with it to focus on retraining and building my business @thrivebeyonduk which works flexibly around my homelife.

2) What do you love about running your own independent business?

I love the energy I get from working with other independent business and empowering them to achieve success. Seeing them thrive and achieve their vision means everything to me. I love the dynamic nature of my work – No two clients and no two days are ever the same!

Working both with local businesses and online I have built up a network of wonderful communities including the North Kingston Mums in Business, The Kingston Chamber of Commerce and The Small and Mighty Business Community. I am a huge believer in #communityovercompetition where we all can achieve!

3) What is your favourite product or service you provide and why?

My Empowerment Programme is the culmination of my work over the last two years where I have taken my key learnings and successes to create a programme which empowers small business owners to define their vision of success, their target market, their core offerings and the marketing strategy they need, all while ensuring a true work/life balance. I help my clients prioritise and put clear goals in place which motivate and energise them to move forward with confidence.

4) Let’s spread the indie love, name some other independent businesses you support.

There are so many so I can only name a few!

@thamestravel independent travel agents

@paulamasseyphotography fabulous personal branding photography

@luroberts_agnes the most incredible no nasties delightfully scented candles

@carriewardrobe personal styling and shopping

@neonmarl delightful hand printed sweatshirts I just love

5) Which is your favourite social media platform and why?

I’m a big fan of Instagram – I only came onto the platform a year ago and just love the community element to it. @thrivebeyonduk I also use LinkedIn @RachelRRussell to maintain and develop my business connections and Facebook @thrivebeyonduk to bridge the gap between personal and business.
