A big welcome to Sally From Chasing Tigers, who is another of the fantastic #incredibleindependents based in Kingston. She creates gorgeous products and I love her use of cork leather in her products.

1) Why did you start your business?

I’ve been sewing most of my life, it’s in the family. My best friends mum taught me to quilt when my nephew was born but it was a few years before I got into it even though my fabric addiction had already begun. After my son was born I had more time to make things and discovered so many other things I could make with quilting fabrics. I got into clutch and wallet making and thought I would have a go at selling them so I started up my business from there.

2) What do you love about running your own independent business?

My business is very much about expressing your individual style, each item is slightly different. I love making things according to each persons likes and style. The added benefit being I get to play with all kinds of fabrics and designs – my favourite being cork leather.

3) What is your favourite product or service you provide/make and why?

I love making the slimline wallets and the Necessary clutch wallet. Both such lovely designs and very practical. I use cork leather in a variety of colours to make them wipeable and durable. Plus the added benefit of cork is that it’s a positive for the environment.

4) Let’s spread the indie love, name some other independent businesses you support.

I’m trying hard to support small businesses instead of big companies. I’m switching all my skincare to cut.le.crap., I love the 80’s inspired designs that Disko Kids make. I just met a lovely couple who make greeting cards with lovely illustrations called The Cardy Club so I’d deffo check them out. Mostly I buy fabric and sewing supplies from a few small online shops.

5) Which is your favourite social media platform and why?

I love Instagram the most, lots of beautiful inspiration and a supportive community. The sun shines in that world 95% of the time which is my kind of space.

A big thank you to Sally for sharing more about her lovely business, again another wonderful business worth checking out if you need a unique handmade gift for someone. Please continue to support your #incredibleindependents using this hashtag. If there are businesses that you love out there, let me know!
